Microsoft Word has been the main writing software I use. Microsoft word has been the most convenient tool when it comes to writing papers. I can always rely and remain diligent on Microsoft word. For example, this program I'm using doesn't have many edit options as Word such as line spacing or lettering styles. I don't remember doing much word in elementary school, but I do in middle school. In 8th grade, I remember taking a Microsoft course with word, office, excel which I'm all certified for mastering. Then in high school, I used Microsoft word for many papers so I am very accustomed to it.

I believe the most important ISTE standard would have to be leadership. Growing up, I've seen many disobedient students simply because of a lack of leadership. Now, I'm not saying that leadership should be strict obedience and dictatorship. However, many teachers are disrespected and taken advantage of due to being too friendly. I hate to see it. Usually the teachers that I've learned from the most were teachers that had good leadership in guiding us to do our task correctly. Ones that advocate for success and are models to the students.

When I was growing up, I was in the transition to be in the generation with a digital native. I believe fifth grade is when I last seen a teacher use writing on a projector rather than powerpoint slides. Digital native is to be born with the access of technology to your usage in doing daily tasks. One can simply look it up on a digital browser rather than trying to find the knowledge in a library. I believe technology has its pros and cons when it comes to school. Doing assignments can be easier and learning can accelerate with it. However, students are finding easier ways to cheat on assignments but simply learning in the process. I hope when I teach, it is not all digital like zoom where students lack peer relations and social skills from lack of in person teachings.

  1. i like that you believe leadership doesnt mean strict obedience since many people fail to realize that, yet at the same time you know that there needs to be a level of obedience learned by the teacher since young students will recognize vulnerable teachers. it is also interesting that the last time you saw a teacher use a projector was the fifth grade, because the last time i saw one in the classroom was the 8th grade. just goes to show how many of us have completely different experiences in the classroom.

  2. Hi there! I really like your point about leadership. I'm all for teachers being on friendly terms with their students, but it's the teachers who prioritize this friendship over respect and education that do the least good in the classroom. My favorite teachers were the strict ones that held me to a higher standard and made me believe in myself.
